Home Improvement Contract
A comprehensive agreement for residential construction and remodeling projects that clearly outlines the work, responsibilities, pricing, and project terms. This contract includes sections for the project scope, materials, start and completion dates, contract price, down payment, finance charges, and the progress payment schedule.
The agreement also references the required companion disclosure forms that are provided separately from the contract, including the Three-Day, Five-Day (for qualifying senior citizens), and Seven-Day Right to Cancel Notices, along with the Commercial General Liability Insurance Notice and Workers' Compensation Insurance Notice.
The reverse side of the agreement includes important disclosures regarding Extra Work and Change Orders, the California Mechanics Lien Warning, contractor release requirements following payment, Force Majeure provisions, and Contractors State License Board (CSLB) consumer information and contact details. Together, these provisions help contractors clearly document project expectations while informing homeowners of important rights and project-related information.
This agreement is designed for California home improvement projects and is intended to be used together with the applicable companion notices and disclosure forms when required by law. Contractors are responsible for determining which notices apply to each project and for complying with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Scope of Work

This form is designed to be used in conjunction with the Home Improvement Contract Agreement when additional space is needed to document the project's scope of work, including labor, materials, specifications, and other important details.
Service & Repair Contract
This agreement is designed for qualifying residential service, repair, and maintenance work that does not require a Home Improvement Contract. It clearly documents the work to be performed, pricing, payment terms, and customer authorization before work begins, making it an ideal agreement for smaller service and repair projects.
California law requires that a Service & Repair Contract may only be used when all of the following conditions are met:
- The total contract price does not exceed $750.
- The buyer/customer initiated contact with the contractor to request the work.
- The contractor does not sell goods or services beyond those reasonably necessary to correct the specific problem that caused the customer to request the service.
Performance of Extra Work / Change Order
This form is used to document additional work or changes requested after the original contract has been signed. It helps clearly identify changes to the scope of work, materials, pricing, or project schedule and should be completed and approved by both the contractor and the customer before any extra or changed work is performed.
California law generally requires that changes to the original contract be documented in writing and signed by both the contractor and the customer before performing extra or change-order work. Properly documenting these changes helps establish a clear record of the revised scope of work and associated costs.
Insurance Disclosure
This disclosure form is designed to be used in conjunction with the Home Improvement Contract. It provides the customer with the required disclosures regarding the contractor's Commercial General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance coverage. This form is intended to supplement the Home Improvement Contract and should not be used as a standalone document.
California home improvement contracts generally require contractors to provide customers with written disclosures regarding Commercial General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance coverage. This notice is intended to accompany the Home Improvement Contract and should be provided as part of the complete contract package.
Three-Day Right to Cancel Notice
This notice is designed to be used in conjunction with the Home Improvement Contract Agreement when the transaction qualifies for the buyer's three-day right to cancel under applicable law. It informs the customer of their cancellation rights and is intended to be provided as part of the complete contract package. This form should not be used as a standalone document.
California law generally requires contractors to provide a completed Notice of Three-Day Right to Cancel for qualifying home solicitation transactions. Contractors are responsible for determining whether the transaction qualifies and for ensuring all applicable notices and disclosures are provided in accordance with federal, state, and local laws.
Five-Day Right to Cancel Notice
This notice is designed to be used in conjunction with the Home Improvement Contract Agreement for qualifying transactions involving senior citizens that require a five-day right to cancel under applicable California law. It informs eligible customers of their cancellation rights and is intended to be included as part of the complete contract package. This form should not be used as a standalone document.
California law may require contractors to provide a Notice of Five-Day Right to Cancel for qualifying transactions involving senior citizens. Contractors are responsible for determining whether the transaction qualifies and for ensuring all required notices and disclosures are provided in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
Seven-Day Right to Cancel Notice
This notice is designed to be used in conjunction with the Home Improvement Contract Agreement for qualifying transactions that require a seven-day right to cancel under applicable California law. It informs eligible customers of their cancellation rights and is intended to be included as part of the complete contract package. This form should not be used as a standalone document.
California law may require contractors to provide a Notice of Seven-Day Right to Cancel for qualifying home improvement transactions. Contractors are responsible for determining whether the transaction qualifies and for ensuring all required notices and disclosures are provided in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
